Welcome to my website! My name is Shiva Rahimi! I am a classical pianist, musician, educator and lover of arts. I have played the piano since I was 6 years old. I am originally from Iran but have been a naturalized Canadian for almost two decades, living in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. I have been involved in the music education field for most of my adult life, training and nurturing young and older talents equally. I am very passionate about music and would love to transfer that passion to my students by helping them connect with the music on a deeper level.

As an educator, I have worked with both adults and children, some of whom have been passionate enough about the piano to have chosen it as their career. Many of my students have gone on to pursue careers as musicians, performers and teachers. It is always very satisfying to learn that my lessons inspired so many of my students and made a positive impact on their lives!

I am an RCM Certified Advanced Piano Specialist, have been a British Columbia Registered Music Teacher since 2014 and was a member of Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association from 2006-2014. I possess an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, a Diploma in Music from Mount Royal College of Business and Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of Calgary.

I have had 100% success rate in preparing students for exams and festivals. My students frequently obtain marks in the 80-90% range in exams, and often receive prizes/awards at music festivals and competitions in recognition of their excellence.

Before the pandemic, I provided only face-to-face piano/theory lessons. But, since then, I have moved my teaching completely online and thus the only classes now available are online.

I use video-conferencing softwares such as Skype or Zoom for the online classes. The virtual lessons will require the student to have a robust Wifi connection in their home as well as a modern device such as a laptop or a desktop computer with good audio/video capabilities.

Individual (one-on-one) piano lessons are offered in 30, 45 & 60 minute segments depending on the age, level and goal of the student. Group and individual theory lessons are also available. Lessons are available to students age 6 and beyond as well as to students of all levels from beginner to advanced (RCM Preparatory-Diploma).

Lessons are scheduled once a week and students need to have a proper instrument in their home to practice routinely on. For intermediate and advanced students (RCM Level 3 & beyond), a fully-functioning acoustic piano is considered a proper piano while beginners can use a full-size (88 keys) digital piano with fully weighted keys during the earlier stages of their learning.
